ADNOC Gas has said repairs at the Habshan gas processing facility in Abu Dhabi may continue until mid-2027 after attacks earlier this year caused major damage and temporary shutdowns.
The company shared the update during its first-quarter earnings report this week. The Habshan gas plant is one of the largest energy facilities in the region. It processes around 6.1 billion cubic feet of gas each day.
According to Adnoc Gas, the facility suffered damage after attacks on April 3 and April 8. Iran was blamed for the strikes, which disrupted operations and forced temporary shutdowns at the site.
The company said it moved quickly to restart operations after the attacks. Adnoc Gas reported that nearly 60 percent of the plant’s processing capacity returned within a short time.
The company is now working on a longer repair plan to fully restore the site.
Adnoc Gas said it expects the facility to reach about 80 percent of its normal operating capacity by the end of 2026. Full recovery is expected sometime in 2027.
The Habshan facility plays an important role in the UAE’s gas supply system. It supports domestic energy demand and helps the country maintain stable fuel supplies.
The plant is also important for exports and industrial use. Any disruption at the site can affect regional energy markets and supply chains.
The attacks on the facility came during a period of rising tension in West Asia. Energy infrastructure across the region has faced growing security concerns in recent months.
Oil and gas facilities are critical targets during conflicts because they support power generation, transport, and industrial activity. Damage to these sites can also influence global energy prices.
Despite the attacks, the UAE continued efforts to keep energy supplies stable. The country has focused on restoring operations while also strengthening infrastructure security.
Adnoc Gas did not provide full details about the repair costs during the earnings report. However, the company said restoration work is progressing steadily.
Industry experts believe the phased recovery plan shows the scale of the damage caused by the attacks. Large gas processing plants require complex systems and safety checks before full operations can resume.
The Habshan facility is part of the UAE’s wider energy network managed by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. The network supports both local energy needs and international customers.
The UAE remains one of the world’s major energy producers. It continues to invest heavily in gas production, energy security, and infrastructure expansion.
Adnoc Gas said its teams are working to restore the facility safely and efficiently while reducing the impact on customers and supply operations.
The latest update shows that energy security remains a major concern for Gulf countries as regional tensions continue to affect critical infrastructure.
