Abu Dhabi has transformed into a glowing celebration zone ahead of Eid Al Adha as the city unveiled nearly 3,800 festive light installations across major roads, bridges, and landmarks.
The large-scale decoration project covers many of the capital’s most famous locations. Residents and visitors can now see bright displays along Abu Dhabi Corniche, King Abdullah Street, Al Maqta Bridge, and several major roads across the city.
This year’s decorations follow a unified color theme built around soft off-white shades. The design combines cream and pale yellow tones to create a calm and elegant atmosphere across key public spaces. Officials said the goal was to present a modern look while keeping traditional Eid themes alive.
One of the most eye-catching features is the installation of around 1,200 glowing spheres suspended between lamp posts. These lights stretch across roads and walkways, especially along the Corniche area. Matching geometric designs also appear at the base of lamp posts, creating a balanced visual style throughout the city.
The decorations range in height from two to four meters. On Al Maqta Bridge, the upper and side sections now feature matching off-white lighting. Hanging spheres have also been added to blend with the bridge’s main lighting system.
While off-white remains the main color, other areas across the city include bright tones such as red, green, turquoise, yellow, and white. The displays combine modern lighting technology with traditional Islamic art and Arabic design elements.
Many of the installations feature popular Arabic Eid greetings. Messages such as “Eidukum Mubarak,” “Kul aam wa antum bikhair,” “Asaakum min al-awwada,” and “Min al-fayizeen wal-ghanimeen” can be seen across roads and public areas. Decorative patterns inspired by Islamic geometry and Arabic calligraphy also appear throughout the displays.
The lighting project extends far beyond the city center. Decorations now cover Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street, Sheikh Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street, several bridges, islands, and internal roads. Mainland cities connected to Abu Dhabi have also received festive lighting as part of the wider celebration campaign.
Officials said the project reflects the city’s commitment to creating a welcoming atmosphere during one of the most important holidays in the Islamic calendar. Eid Al Adha is celebrated by Muslims around the world and is known for family gatherings, prayers, charity work, and community events.
Khalid Allaq Al Hamadi said the lighting installations show Abu Dhabi’s position as a global destination that combines heritage with modern life. He explained that the displays aim to strengthen the festive spirit while also improving the visual experience for residents and tourists.
The municipality worked on the installations ahead of the busy Eid holiday period, when thousands of people are expected to visit shopping areas, parks, waterfront locations, and entertainment venues across the capital.
The annual decoration campaign has become an important part of Abu Dhabi’s Eid celebrations. Each year, city officials introduce new lighting styles and creative designs to mark the occasion. This year’s soft and elegant theme stands out for its simple color choices and large-scale use of glowing spheres.
Residents have already started sharing photos and videos of the decorations on social media. Many praised the displays for adding warmth and beauty to the streets ahead of the holiday.
Abu Dhabi continues to invest in public celebrations and cultural events as part of its wider effort to strengthen tourism and community engagement. The Eid lighting project also highlights the city’s focus on blending traditional culture with modern urban design.
As Eid Al Adha approaches, the illuminated streets and bridges are expected to attract large crowds during evening hours. Families, tourists, and photographers are likely to gather at key locations, especially along the Corniche and near Al Maqta Bridge, to enjoy the festive atmosphere created by the citywide display.
