Abu Dhabi Summer Sports 2026 reaches its final day today, August 23, bringing two months of sport and fitness to a close at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.
The fifth edition of the event began on June 6. It has offered a wide range of indoor sports, fitness sessions and family activities during the hot summer months. The event was held in a cool, controlled setting at ADNEC.
This year’s edition was the largest in the event’s history. It covered about 48,000 square metres. That was a 26 percent increase from the previous edition.
The event also featured 29 sports. Ten of them were new additions. More than 70 fields, courts and pitches were used across the venue. The number of sports areas rose by 27 percent from the last edition.
The scale of the event reflects Abu Dhabi’s growing focus on sport and active living. The summer programme was designed to give people a safe place to stay active while temperatures outside remained high.
ADSS welcomed people of different ages and fitness levels. Visitors could take part in sports, exercise and other activities. The event also gave families a chance to spend time together while staying active.
The programme has become an important part of Abu Dhabi’s summer calendar. Its indoor setting helps remove one of the main barriers to outdoor sport during the hottest months of the year.
The event is also part of a wider effort to make sport a regular part of daily life in Abu Dhabi. The Abu Dhabi Sports Council has described the programme as a way to support community participation and promote healthier lifestyles.
The 2026 edition was organised by ADNEC Group in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. It was sponsored by ADNOC Group. The event ran across halls 1 to 11 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.
The event’s long run has also helped create a steady sports space through the summer. Rather than a short tournament, it has offered activities over several weeks. This has allowed people to return more than once and try different sports.
Today marks the final scheduled day of the 2026 edition. The closing date also gives a clear end to one of Abu Dhabi’s biggest indoor sports programmes of the year.
The event’s growth shows how demand for indoor sport is rising in the UAE. Abu Dhabi has invested in venues and events that can support sport throughout the year. Indoor facilities are especially useful in summer, when outdoor activity can be difficult because of high heat.
The 2026 edition also placed strong focus on community sport. The range of activities meant the programme was not aimed only at professional athletes. It was also open to people who wanted to exercise, learn a sport or enjoy an active day with family and friends.
With the final day now underway, Abu Dhabi Summer Sports closes another major chapter in the city’s sports calendar. Its larger size, wider sports list and expanded facilities have made the 2026 edition a notable step forward for the event.
The programme will now leave a strong base for future editions. Its growth in space, sports and facilities shows the increasing role of community sport in Abu Dhabi.
For visitors, today is the last chance to experience the 2026 edition at ADNEC. The event’s run from June 6 to August 23 has provided a long summer platform for fitness, sport and family activity in the capital.
