The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has ordered the temporary closure of So Great Restaurant in Abu Dhabi after inspectors identified repeated food safety violations that authorities said could pose a risk to public health.
According to ADAFSA, the decision was taken under Abu Dhabi Food Law No. 2 of 2008 and its implementing regulations. Officials said the restaurant failed to meet required food safety standards despite receiving previous warnings and inspections.
The authority stated that the establishment repeatedly did not comply with food safety requirements and failed to implement effective corrective actions to address the issues identified by inspectors.
As a result, officials issued an administrative closure order to protect consumers and ensure food safety standards are maintained across the emirate.
ADAFSA said the closure is temporary and will remain in effect until all violations have been fully corrected. The restaurant will only be allowed to reopen after demonstrating full compliance with food safety regulations and successfully meeting all required standards.
The authority emphasized that the measure was taken as part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard public health and maintain high food safety standards throughout Abu Dhabi.
Food safety inspectors regularly conduct inspections of restaurants, cafes, food production facilities, and other food-related businesses across the emirate. These inspections are designed to ensure establishments follow proper food handling, storage, preparation, and hygiene practices.
Officials said enforcement actions may be taken when businesses fail to comply with regulations that are intended to protect consumers from potential health risks.
ADAFSA noted that maintaining food safety remains a key priority. The authority continues to carry out routine inspections and monitoring programs aimed at strengthening compliance within the food sector.
