“3,000 inquiries in the first week surprised even us.”
Interview with Genadi Man, Founder/CEO of MyGenny (K2G Holding AG), conducted by Abu Dhabi Times
Abu Dhabi Times: MyGenny has now officially launched in the Swiss market. What is your first assessment?
Honestly, we are surprised ourselves. Within the first week after the joint market launch with our cooperation partner, more than 3,000 people registered in our system. That exceeded everything we had expected.
Abu Dhabi Times: What exactly does MyGenny offer customers?
We cover the full range of insurance through our AI products. The regulated brokerage is handled by our FINMA-registered cooperation partner, while we provide the technology platform.
Abu Dhabi Times: What were people asking about the most?
At the beginning, motor vehicle insurance was clearly the main focus. After that, the picture shifted somewhat: around half of the inquiries were about health insurance and home insurance. What was particularly noticeable was that many people who asked about health or home insurance immediately went on to ask about legal protection insurance. That is a clear signal that people want to rethink their entire insurance coverage in one place.
Abu Dhabi Times: Why do you believe your application will succeed?
You know, this is actually a question that history has answered many times before. When online banking was introduced, many people were skeptical—today, no one can imagine handling their banking any other way. ChatGPT also required very little advertising budget at the beginning and still achieved enormous adoption. Of course, these are general products and cannot be compared one-to-one with ours. But behind them is a great deal of technological and business expertise that cannot simply be copied.
On top of that, our business is regulated. You cannot afford inaccuracies here because you are immediately compared with other figures in the market. That forces us to be truly good and future-oriented—and that is exactly what people appreciate. We see it in the reactions of our interested users, who recommend the application to their friends. What they enjoy is not only the price comparison, which we naturally offer, but above all that they receive a clear explanation in their own language without having to speak to anyone on the phone.
Our system also ensures that customers never miss important deadlines. And our market radar makes sure they do not miss anything beneficial that is relevant to them or their family, simply because it might otherwise disappear in the flood of information. Today, people want to save money, but above all they want to understand what they actually have and spend as little time as possible managing it themselves. That is exactly why we built our agents: so that no one has to spend their life worrying about saying, in the event of a claim, “I didn’t know that.” With our system, that no longer happens.
And what makes us especially happy is that it does not stop with explanations alone. Customers actually find more affordable offers through MyGenny—or, where prices are similar, offers with significantly better coverage and a clear explanation of what they are actually purchasing. In the end, that is the value we create: not only understanding, but genuinely benefiting as well.
Abu Dhabi Times: When will you launch here in the United Arab Emirates?
As you can see, that is exactly why I am here—to clarify the technical and regulatory questions for our market entry. We assume that we will be able to launch later this year. What has impressed me most is the framework the Central Bank has created here for data access. I have not seen anything like it anywhere in Europe. That makes me even happier that we will be able to offer the full range of our products here.
Abu Dhabi Times: Where do you see MyGenny in the long term? Will it remain focused on insurance?
Our product is driven by the questions our customers ask and by their desire for more information and better offers. That is exactly what we will continue to build on in the future because it keeps us close to people’s lives and to what they want. And it certainly will not stop with insurance in the long term. We see MyGenny as a platform that evolves together with people’s needs—beyond insurance.
Abu Dhabi Times: What products are you referring to specifically?
I would be happy to tell you that in the first quarter of next year.
Abu Dhabi Times: Are you looking for additional investment?
Yes, absolutely—like every young company in its early stage that wants to market and scale its products worldwide. And I am very grateful to the institutions in Abu Dhabi for welcoming us so openly. They make us feel comfortable here and connect us with the contacts we need to make this happen.
Abu Dhabi Times: How many employees does it take to develop and scale a platform like this? And how long does it take to adapt it to a new country?
Regarding the first question: A few years ago, we had up to 65 employees at times. Today, thanks to the latest technology and the understanding we have built of this industry, we operate the completed platform with only 15 employees. That shows how advanced—and in our view, unique—the technology and architecture of our product are.
As for the second question: Thanks to our architecture and our business expertise, we need around three weeks to be ready for entry into a new country.
Abu Dhabi Times: A very exciting conversation. I wish you every success and hope to conduct another interview with you in December, when you have hopefully launched here.
Thank you very much—I would be delighted. I am convinced that by then we will have good news to report from Abu Dhabi.
