The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Abu Dhabi has announced its largest ever Eid Al Adha cultural programme, welcoming worshippers and visitors from around the world during the holiday period. The initiative aims to create a rich spiritual and cultural experience for families, tourists, and residents.
The programme has been designed to manage the expected rise in visitors during Eid prayers and daily visits. It combines religious activities with cultural exhibitions and interactive experiences, all within a carefully managed operational system that ensures smooth movement, safety, and comfort.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre said the initiative reflects its commitment to promoting cultural understanding and the values of coexistence. It also aligns with the UAE’s “Year of Community” goals.
A key feature of the Eid programme is the wide range of cultural activities held across the mosque complex. These include guided tours, immersive exhibitions, and family-friendly entertainment designed to engage visitors of all ages.
Special Eid Takbeerat will echo throughout the mosque, the Peace Dome, and Souq Al Jami during the holiday. These traditional chants are an important part of Eid celebrations and add to the spiritual atmosphere of the occasion.
One of the central attractions is Souq Al Jami, a vibrant destination within the mosque complex. It features more than 68 outlets, including restaurants, retail shops, and entertainment spaces. Families can spend the day exploring, dining, and relaxing in a scenic environment.
Souq Al Jami also includes dedicated play areas for children. This allows younger visitors to enjoy activities while parents take part in shopping and cultural experiences overlooking the mosque’s architecture and landscaped surroundings.
Another major highlight is the Light & Peace Museum, which offers an immersive cultural journey into Islamic civilisation. The museum uses modern exhibition methods and multimedia displays to present themes of tolerance, knowledge, and creativity.
The museum is divided into five sections that explore values such as tolerance, worship, artistic excellence, cultural openness, and unity among communities. It also includes a dedicated family and children’s area to make the experience accessible to all visitors.
An additional attraction is the “Diya Interactive Experience – A World of Light,” a 360-degree visual presentation that uses advanced technology to tell stories of cultural harmony and spiritual meaning.
The mosque also offers guided cultural tours in Arabic and English. These tours are led by trained specialists who explain the mosque’s architecture, Islamic traditions, and cultural message.
During Eid, the tours will include special routes that provide access to areas usually reserved for exclusive visits. Visitors will also learn about Eid traditions, the significance of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, and the rituals of Hajj.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque continues to serve as one of the UAE’s most important religious and cultural landmarks. It attracts millions of visitors every year from different countries and backgrounds.
The mosque also offers interactive digital guides in 14 languages. These tools use modern technology, including augmented reality, to help visitors understand the site in an engaging way.
Visitors can also enjoy panoramic viewing points, coffee outlets, and souvenir shops within the complex. These features are designed to enhance the overall experience of the visit.
Eid prayer services will be held in the mosque’s courtyards, with large prayer areas prepared for worshippers. Organisers have ensured a calm and organised environment for the large crowds expected during the holiday.
The mosque remains open daily from 9am to 10pm for visitors, with extended cultural and night tour options available. Special “Sura” night tours allow guests to experience the mosque’s atmosphere under illuminated lighting.
Souq Al Jami will remain open throughout the Eid holiday with extended hours, offering dining and leisure options for families and tourists.
Officials say the programme reflects the UAE’s commitment to cultural engagement, religious tolerance, and community connection. It is designed to offer both spiritual reflection and family enjoyment during one of the most important Islamic celebrations of the year.
