H.H. Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan reviewed major tourism and cultural development plans for Al Dhafra Region during a meeting with officials from Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting took place at Al Nakheel Palace, where the delegation presented updates on current projects and future plans that aim to strengthen Al Dhafra’s position as one of the UAE’s leading cultural and tourism destinations.
Officials briefed Sheikh Hamdan on the region’s strategic development plan through 2030. The programme focuses on tourism growth, heritage preservation, infrastructure expansion, and cultural promotion across Al Dhafra Region.
During the meeting, tourism performance indicators showed clear growth in visitor numbers and hotel sector revenues. Officials said the region continues attracting more tourists as investment in tourism infrastructure and heritage projects increases across western Abu Dhabi.
The delegation also reviewed updates linked to the Tal Moreeb master plan. Tal Moreeb is one of the most famous desert landmarks in the UAE and is widely known for hosting motorsport and cultural events that attract local and international visitors.
The master plan aims to improve tourism facilities, visitor experiences, and event infrastructure while preserving the natural desert environment of the region.
The discussions also covered several heritage and archaeological projects designed to preserve Emirati history and culture.
Officials presented initiatives focused on restoring and developing cultural and heritage sites throughout Al Dhafra Region. The projects aim to highlight the area’s traditional identity while creating new tourism opportunities connected to Emirati heritage.
One of the important updates included programmes showcasing archaeological discoveries at Al Dhafra Fort. Authorities said the programmes will help visitors learn more about the history and cultural importance of the region.
Sheikh Hamdan stressed the importance of development projects that protect Emirati traditions while supporting economic growth. He reaffirmed the UAE leadership’s support for initiatives that strengthen Al Dhafra’s role as a cultural and tourism centre.
