Abu Dhabi has approved a major housing support package worth Dh1.54 billion to help Emirati citizens secure better living conditions and financial stability. The decision comes as part of ongoing government efforts to improve social welfare and support families across the capital.
The approval was given by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed Al Nahyan under directives issued by President Sheikh Mohamed ahead of Eid Al Adha.
The housing support package will benefit 1,074 citizens across Abu Dhabi. Officials say the programme is designed to strengthen family stability and improve quality of life for Emirati households.
The total value of the support package includes Dh1.41 billion in housing loans. These loans will be distributed to 929 citizens to help them build or purchase homes.
In addition, Dh123 million has been allocated as exemptions from housing loan repayments. This part of the programme targets 145 individuals, including senior citizens, retirees with limited income, and families of deceased citizens.
The initiative is part of a broader national strategy focused on social welfare and housing development. Authorities say it reflects the government’s continued commitment to providing secure and dignified housing for Emirati families.
The Abu Dhabi Housing Authority Abu Dhabi Housing Authority said the programme aims to promote long-term stability for families and strengthen community cohesion.
Officials highlighted that housing support plays a key role in improving living standards and ensuring financial relief for citizens facing housing costs.
According to government statements, this is the second housing support programme announced this year. It forms part of a wider policy framework designed to expand social assistance and improve housing access.
Authorities confirmed that Abu Dhabi has already provided Dh5.76 billion in housing aid this year alone. This reflects the scale of ongoing government investment in citizen welfare programmes.
Since the establishment of the housing authority in 2012, Abu Dhabi has distributed approximately Dh182 billion in housing support. This has benefited more than 133,000 citizens over the years.
Officials say these long-term investments are aimed at ensuring that Emirati families have access to stable and affordable housing. They also support the government’s broader development goals.
The housing programme includes both financial assistance and loan relief measures. These tools are used to reduce pressure on low-income families and support retired citizens who may struggle with repayment obligations.
Government representatives say housing is a key pillar of national development policy. It is closely linked to economic stability, family wellbeing, and social cohesion.
The latest announcement comes during the Eid Al Adha period, a time when many citizens receive additional welfare support and relief measures.
Officials say such initiatives are part of a broader effort to strengthen social unity and ensure that citizens feel supported during important national and cultural occasions.
Experts note that consistent housing support programmes help reduce financial stress and improve long-term community development outcomes.
The government has also emphasized that these programmes will continue in line with national priorities and demographic needs.
With continued investment in housing, Abu Dhabi aims to ensure that all citizens have access to safe, stable, and suitable homes.
The latest Dh1.54 billion package is seen as another major step in strengthening social welfare and reinforcing long-term support for Emirati families.
